Change a student's life with your year-end donation of $50, $100 or more.
With your help, the Albany Public Schools Foundation addresses the issue of poverty and equitable opportunity in our schools through the Student Assistance Program. This could include providing a backpack for an elementary student or laptop for a student going to college. We believe that students facing issues such as homelessness, financial disadvantage, lack of parental support and other obstacles, deserve an equal chance for success K-12 and beyond.
"My mom is a single mom who works part-time as a gas attendant. We live in low-income housing due to our circumstances," states Taylor, a graduate of Albany Options School and one of the most recent participants in the Student Assistance Program. "I don't have any one in my family who has ever attended college, so I am really excited to have someone available to mentor me."
Taylor was relieved when she found out that she would have a mentor and financial support to help her navigate the transition from high school to college. In Albany, where almost 39% of public school students are at or below the poverty line, college or trade school can seem out of reach.
Join us in helping more students, like Taylor, achieve the dream of a post-secondary education. We believe that education is powerful and has the potential to break the cycle of poverty in our community. Your support provides basic needs for kids, makes the dream of college possible and sends a message to Albany students that you are important and your community cares about you.
Thank you for your support. We can't do this without you.
